About how far are you from it? In the northeast, we get really frozen weather and it is normally the whole northeast. The weather does not care. |

Um, I think an hour or a little more would get you to the Pacific Ocean. It's an awesome view |

I like reading about Davy's escapades but I have to say that re-reading he books as an adult, Paul Irving comes across as a bit wet, despite LMM's obvious attempts to counter that by having someone say at one point that Paul isn't at all weak or girly (I can't remember who said that or when, but I'm not convinced.)
I love the episodicness (is that a real word??) of "Avonlea" - all the little, trivial but amusing events before the series did more than hint at the romance between Anne and Gilbert. And I love the schoolroom scenes... the AVIS... Mr Harrison and his parrot... the list goes on. |

I know! All the little events that happened before the whole romance thing started I loved, just like all the mini escapades Anne had in Anne of Green Gables.
I never noticed Paul Irving as being weak or girly, maybe because I was younger when I read it. Did he come off as pathetic? All I remember is that he was Anne's favourite pupil. |

Weak or girly is perhaps a bit harsh, but he did irritate me a little on re-reads, in ways I didn't notice as a kid. |

He was mentioned so much in the book and only reappeared once or twice later, or mentioned, I can't quite recall. I think LMM focused on him a lot and then found another character of interest? |
