Anne of Windy Poplars (1940)
This is the sequel to Anne of Green Gables (1934) starring 'Anne Shirley' or Dawn Evelyn Paris. I haven't been able to find it or watch it. Has anyone seen it yet?

Diana Barry- 10-09-2006

I haven't but I sure would like to.

raggedyanne- 10-09-2006

I know that the ratings weren't as good as the first one they did, but I don't mind. Unlike the 1987 sequel, I think they only based it on the book Anne of Windy Poplars.

Diana Barry- 10-10-2006

Anne of Windy Poplars is one of my favorites!

raggedyanne- 10-11-2006

It's okay for me, I still want to see it though! Just like all those other BBC versions that nobody seems to have seen.

Diana Barry- 10-11-2006

I know.I have watched some BBC versions of books and some of them are quite boring. Ever watched Little Women? There wasn't ANY music in it unless someone played the piano. But I still would like to see the versions of Anne.

I saw the latest LW movie in 1994 /w Winona Ryder, Christian Bale and Kirsten Dunst, but it wasn't BBC. There's also a LW version /w Elizabeth Taylor which I want to see but haven't gotten the chance yet. Perhaps it was an old BBC? I like the tv movie series they have at BBC, like the Inspector Lynley's series.

Diana Barry- 10-11-2006

I have seen 4 versions of LW including all the ones you mentioned. I own them all.

raggedyanne- 10-11-2006

Wow, which one do you think is the best? Or at least the best Jo, I like her a lot.

Diana Barry- 10-11-2006

That is hard. I think I like the Elizabeth Taylor one the best but the Winona Ryder is a close second.

raggedyanne- 10-11-2006

They changed the one Winona was in, especially in the ending, which is a good thing! Did they alter the one with Elizabeth Taylor too?

Diana Barry- 10-11-2006

Yes, it wasn't too much like the book but I liked it anyway.

raggedyanne- 10-12-2006

I know that a film adaptation of Jane Eyre is underway. I read part of the book but not all of it.

Diana Barry- 10-12-2006

I read it all the way.

raggedyanne- 10-12-2006

I read it, but then had to finish Wuthering Heights so it's been put aside. Actually, it's already been made. It's a mini series and the ratings are really high so far!! http://imdb.com/title/tt0780362/
